Today I am showing you how to make my exciting new Sliding Puzzle Cards, all made with minimal supplies, no specialist crafting equipment is needed. All you need are pencil, ruler, and a paper trimmer to make these cards. Foam tape will make these easier to assemble, but you can make them with stacked card stock strips instead if you prefer. You can put anything you like on your puzzle as long as you can still cut it up when you've finished, so you can die-cut, stamp, colour, get inky, whatever you love to do.
The first card today shows the whole process, start to finish to make a Sliding Puzzle card using imperial (inches) measurements, and the second card shows the whole process again, but using metric (cm) measurements, so you can make with whatever your preference, full measurements are below for both types of card.
Happy Birthday die-cut Card - Imperial Measurements (inches)
Imperial Measurements
Base and top piece 4" Square
Base strips, cut 5 3/4" by 4"
Piece strips, cut 4 1/2" by 4"
Frame strips, cut 4 1/2" wide cut a little longer than needed, just
over 4" or 5" and then trim after sticking for a better fit
Base piece marked at 1", 2" and 3" to add base strips of foam tape
Piece strips are cut into 1" pieces AFTER using to place base strips on base
Top piece is cut into 1" squares
My foam tape for all the strips was about 2mm deep and 5mm wide. This is just over 1/16" deep and 3/16" wide, it can be a little bigger and it will still work with these measurements, so see what you have or can cut.
My foam tape for the frame was the same width, but roughly double the depth, so about 4mm or just over 1/8" deep, this can be wider tape, it just needs to hide under the frame, but it needs to be deep enough to act as a stopper for your pieces, so you could double up thinner tape if that is what you have.

Rainbow Stripes - my proof of concept card! The diagonal stripes make a really tricky puzzle...
